PAKISTAN UROGYNAECOLOGIST ASSOCIATION
The first symposium of Urogynaecology was organized from the plate form of Pakistan Urogynaecologist Association on 14th & 15th June 2014 in Karachi at Movenpick hotel. The symposium was attended by more the hundred and fifty senior professors, associate & assistant professors along with their trainee postgraduates and gynaecologist from private hospitals. This symposium on urogynaecology was first time organized ever in history of Gynaecology & Obstetrics in Pakistan. The revolution and the new sun rise seen in the history of gynaecology in Pakistan this comment given by a renown gynaecologist. Dr. Shaheen Zafar and Prof. Rubina Tahir elected general secretary in gynaecology Faculty of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan admired the occasion and commented that the efforts of a single person can bring such a huge change she witnessed for the first time. She talked about the prospective of CPSP in starting 2nd fellowship in field of Urogynaecology. Professor Azizunnisa had a strong point of view that the trainer should be qualified by CPSP and should be a gynaecologist. Professor Sadiqua Jafarey chief guest of the event congratulated the team and stressed upon the need of this type of organization who can work dedicatedly for the betterment of women suffering from urogynae problems. Further she commented on the discussion that the CPSP who already have made guidelines for training in this speciality, should also make this issue of trainers’ certification clear. The President of Pakistan Urogynaecology Association Prof. Pushpa Srichand highlighted the good working relationships with urologist & other speciality, need for teaching and training of gynaecologist to change paradigm of our budding gynaecologist Prof. Tasneem Ashraf President of Society of Obstetricians & Gynaecology joined from Quetta admired the efforts of PUGA team in Organization of National Symposium with high quality of research papers and clinical skills related workshops conducted as pre symposium event at Liaquat National Hospital and Medical college. The executive members of PUGA at National level showed great unity and enthusiasm to continue this effort in future and enlighten the doctors especially gynaecologist working in this field having interest in subject. Prof. Dr. Shagufta Tahir the founding general Secretary of Pakistan Urogynaecologist in her inaugural speech welcomed the guests who joined from other cities in spite of worse law and order situation in Karachi. The symposium scientific program was compact, had research papers, lectures and videos of sacrocolpopexy, fistula repair, how to perform safe hysterectomy, TVT & TOT prepared by speakers.
The Scientific program was of one day it was highly appreciated and welcomed by audience.
